Code of Conduct and Regulations for the Students and Inmates of  The Saregamapadhanisaa Academy.

The Saregamapadhanisaa Academy is an institution of higher learning in the field of music and performing arts. The students and the inmates of the Academy are therefore required to strictly adhere to the Code of Conduct and the Regulations, respect the sanctity and uphold the values of the Academy. Violation of the Code of Conduct and the Regulations would be strictly dealt with and the violating students/ inmates would be liable to be punished/ penalized for such acts.

1. Students of higher learning in music in The Saregamapadhanisaa Academy need to exhibit appropriate behavior whether inside the campus or outside during the course of the curriculum. Appropriate behavior would include, but not limited to, respecting and addressing appropriately the faculty members, all employees of the Academy, industry personnel, visiting guests, and any other people that the students would interact with as a part of the curriculum.

2. Use of abusive language, racial or communal slurs, sexually explicit comments, derogatory remarks on gender or physical attributes of any person, or any other demeaning comments or language is strictly prohibited in the Academy campus or outside the campus when the students/ inmates would represent the Academy.

3. Smoking, consumption of alcohol, chewing of tobacco or pan masala, or any other substance or drug abuse is strictly prohibited in the Academy campus. Violating students/ inmates will be strictly dealt with and would be handed over to the appropriate authorities for necessary legal action.

4. Physical abuse in any form, sexually inappropriate behavior and sexual harassment will not be tolerated in the Academy campus. Strict legal action will be taken against students engaging in such acts whether in the campus or outside. Students and inmates have to refrain from any risky behavior or act that might inflict physical harm or injury on another student/ inmate or any other person including, but not limited to, the faculty members, employees of the Academy, visiting guests or any other person that they might interact with during the course of the curriculum.

5. Playing musical instruments, sound amplifying devices, personal stereo players etc need to be done during the allowed time. Such acts should not disturb other fellow students/ inmates and residing faculty members, neither should such acts disturb people staying in neighbouring houses/ buildings. Local regulations regarding the use of loud amplifiers should be strictly adhered to.

6. The Academy encourages and supports celebrations during festivals and other special occasions. Students/ inmates have to however seek necessary approval regarding the details of such celebrations well in advance from the appropriate authority in the Academy. Deviations from such details will not be allowed under any circumstances without approval from the appropriate authority. Students/ inmates have to strictly refrain from any act or behavior which can mar the spirit of celebrations.

7. The Academy properties including the buildings, musical instruments, musical equipments, furniture and furnishings, hired equipments, props hired for special occasions, vehicles, belongings of guests, faculty members and other administrative members need to be treated with utmost care. In case of any damage to any property due to man-handling or misuse, the violating students/ inmates have to bear the cost of repair or replacement, whatever might be deemed appropriate by the authorities of the Academy. Writing, scribbling or spray painting on the walls of the Academy, on the furniture, musical instruments etc is strictly prohibited.  

8. Students/ inmates are allowed to leave the Academy campus only during specified hours and with prior approval of the appropriate authority. During such visits out of the campus, the students/ inmates are required to strictly adhere to the representation norms of the Academy. Any behaviour outside the campus which can malign the reputation of the Academy will be dealt with strictly.

9. Students/ inmates are strictly not allowed to speak to the press or any representation from the media whether in Mumbai or in their respective cities or towns during the course of the curriculum. The Academy will design and decide the publicity campaign for the students/ inmates, whenever and if required, at the appropriate time. Students/ inmates are also not allowed to speak to any agents or organizations for any musical or cultural programmes during the course of the curriculum.

10. Canvassing, lobbying, or politicking in any form, whether as individuals or in groups, whether for a fellow student/ inmate or for any other cause is strictly not allowed at the Academy.

11. The internet should be used with reason and judgement. Students/ inmates should refrain from unnecessary downloading of music, movies etc which can slow down the computers, expose the computers to viruses or lead to heavy costs of downloading. Visiting illegal sites, or any site which propagates or supports acts of violence and terror, downloading and uploading of offensive material, pornography etc is strictly not allowed whether using the internet connection of the Academy or in personal computers, laptops or any other telecommunication device.

12. In case of any illness, students should refrain from self-medication and consult the physician appointed by the Academy. In case of students/ inmates with a history of any illness or under any on-going medication or treatment, necessary prescriptions and medical reports have to be kept for presentation whenever necessary. The Academy will inform the respective parents/ guardians in case of any illness. While the Academy will organize the immediate medical attention, the further course of treatment/ medication would have to be approved by the respective parents/ guardians.

I accept the above mentioned Code of Conduct and Regulations of The Saregamapadhanisaa Academy. I pledge to respect and maintain the sanctity of the Academy and uphold its values and principles. I also agree to save and hold harmless, the Academy and its representatives and affiliates from and against any and all claims, demands, causes of action, obligations, liability, loss, damage, cost and expenses incurred or sustained by reason of or arising out of any breach or alleged breach of any of the clauses of the Code of Conduct and Regulations mentioned herein.
